Jeuveau® Aftercare: What to Do (and Avoid) First 48 Hours

The single most important Jeuveau® aftercare rule is simple: don’t rub, press, or massage the treated areas for the first 48 hours. Jeuveau® is a modern neuromodulator and the goal is to let it settle in place so your results come in evenly. If you’re coming in from around Gilbert, especially in our desert heat, aftercare is also about avoiding heat and heavy sweating early on so you don’t increase redness or bruising.
I keep appointments efficient (Jeuveau® is typically about 30 minutes), and I also want your plan to be easy once you walk out the door. Below is exactly what I recommend for the first 0 to 48 hours, what the first week usually looks like, and when to reach out to me if something feels off.
0–48 hours after Jeuveau®: the rules that protect your result
Right after injections, I generally want you thinking about two things: position and pressure. Keep your head upright and keep your hands off the treated areas. That means no rubbing, no gua sha, no facial massage tools, and no leaning your face into a massage table cradle for a bit.
Quick plan: Stay upright for at least 4 hours, avoid strenuous exercise and heat for 24 to 48 hours, and skip rubbing or pressure on injection sites for the full 48 hours.
Immediate window (0–4 hours)
- Stay upright for at least four hours. Don’t lie flat, and don’t bend over for long periods if you can avoid it.
- Avoid touching the treated areas. If you need to cleanse around your face, use light contact and keep it gentle.
- If you notice mild swelling or tenderness, a cold compress can help. Keep it light, and don’t press hard.
Short-term window (24–48 hours)
For the first day or two, I generally recommend you skip anything that heats you up fast. In Gilbert, that means being smart with midday sun, heated yoga, hot tubs, saunas, and outdoor workouts. Heat and heavy sweating can make bruising more likely and can keep you red longer than you’d like.
- Exercise: I suggest waiting 24 to 48 hours before strenuous workouts. Light walking is usually fine if you feel good.
- Alcohol and blood-thinners: Limiting alcohol for 24 hours is a good idea. If you bruise easily, I also suggest avoiding NSAIDs for bruising concerns unless your prescribing doctor says otherwise.
- Sun exposure: If you’ll be outside, apply sunscreen and try to keep direct sun limited for the first 24 to 48 hours.
Days 3–7: what you’ll notice, and what I still want you to avoid
Jeuveau® tends to show a relatively quick visible onset. Many people start noticing changes around 2 to 3 days, and fuller results often show up around 7 to 10 days. If you’re the type who wants an exact day, I’ll be honest: it varies. Your muscles, metabolism, and the area treated all play a role.
During the first week, keep avoiding direct pressure on the treated areas. This is also the week I want you to keep big heat events limited. If you’re training hard, give yourself that 24 to 48 hour window first, then ease back in. If you’re planning a hike or outdoor run, remember that Gilbert sun is no joke, even when it doesn’t feel scorching at 8 a.m.
Facials, heat treatments, and skin services
If you love facials, intense heat, or hands-on skin treatments, I usually recommend waiting about two weeks before anything that involves firm massage, strong heat, or pressure on the treated areas. If you have something scheduled, tell me what it is and I’ll give you a clear yes or no.
Makeup, skincare, and sunscreen after Jeuveau® in Gilbert sun
If you want to wear makeup the same day, I prefer you wait until the skin has calmed down and any pinpoint redness has settled. A safe, common guideline is about 4 to 6 hours before applying makeup, and then keep application gentle. No aggressive buffing. No heavy pressure with brushes or sponges right over injection points.
For skincare, keep things simple for the first day: gentle cleanser, a basic moisturizer, and sunscreen before outdoor time. If you use active ingredients that can irritate your skin, like strong acids or retinoids, pausing briefly is often smart if you’re prone to sensitivity. And in our Arizona sun, sunscreen is non-negotiable. Even a short errand run can turn into more exposure than you planned.
My “keep it calm” skincare checklist
- Cleanse with lukewarm water and light touch.
- Moisturize if you feel dry or tight.
- Use sunscreen before you step outside.
- Avoid strong exfoliation and facial massage for about 2 weeks.
Bruising, swelling, and unevenness: when I want you to check in
A small bruise or a little bump at an injection site can happen. If you bruise, use a cold compress the first day and try not to “test” the area by pressing on it. Some people also like arnica for bruising. If you want to use it, that’s usually fine, just don’t rub it aggressively into the skin.
If something feels unusual, I want to know about it. Reach out to me if you have severe swelling, unexpected pain, or you’re worried about asymmetry once results start coming in. Minor differences can look more noticeable in the first few days while things are settling, so I’ll usually guide you on timing before we decide anything.
I’m located in Central Gilbert near E Warner Rd and S Gilbert Rd, which makes quick check-ins easy if you’re nearby. And if you’re coming from Chandler, Mesa, Queen Creek, Phoenix, Tempe, or San Tan Valley, I’ll help you plan the simplest follow-up window so you’re not making extra trips.
Jeuveau® FAQs I get every week (with straight answers)
How soon will I see results after Jeuveau®?
Many people start noticing changes in about 2 to 3 days. A fuller result often shows up around 7 to 10 days, and I generally consider two weeks the point where you can judge the final look.
Can I exercise after getting Jeuveau® injections?
I recommend waiting 24 to 48 hours before strenuous exercise. Light movement is usually fine, but skip anything that gets you very hot or sweaty right away, especially in Gilbert heat.
When is it OK to wear makeup after Jeuveau®?
A common guideline is to wait about 4 to 6 hours, then apply gently. Avoid pressing, rubbing, or aggressively blending over injection sites on day one.
Can I lie down or sleep after Jeuveau® treatment?
Don’t lie flat for at least four hours after your treatment. After that, normal sleep is fine. I still want you to avoid face-down pressure and rubbing the areas for the first 48 hours.
What should I do if I get a bruise after Jeuveau®?
Use a light cold compress on and off the first day, and don’t press or massage the spot. Limiting alcohol for 24 hours can help, and if you’re worried about bruising, I generally suggest avoiding NSAIDs unless your doctor has you on them.
What is Evolus Jeuveau®?
Evolus is the company behind Jeuveau®. If you’re comparing options, the main thing I focus on with you is your goals, the area we’re treating, and how quickly you’d like to see a change.
What does “Jeuveau® after care” really mean day to day?
Day to day, it’s mostly avoiding rubbing and pressure for 48 hours, staying upright for four hours, and skipping heat and strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours. Simple rules, but they matter a lot for even results.
What should I expect with Jeuveau® before and after?
Before, plan a short appointment and try to come in with clean skin if possible. After, expect small redness or tiny bumps at injection sites that typically settle quickly. Visible changes often start in 2 to 3 days, with fuller results around 7 to 10 days, and a true final look by about two weeks.
